Yesterday was my fun, Girl's day out. We had hoped to do it last week, to celebrate my return to health, but it couldn't happen. We manage to take off, mid morning minus any children. We had an early lunch at Cheddars, then off to hit the stores. Randa and I have both lost considerable weight in the last year, so new clothes are needed.
That and I was given a gorgeous silk handkerchief skirt, that I own nothing to go with. Since I have two casual weddings to attend this year, I was hoping to find something to go with the skirt, so I can wear it. Being that we are both frugal, we hit every Good Will and Re-Sale shop in Bryan College Station. We each spent about $15, and came home really happy. I have four new tops, including one to go with my skirt, and a pair of shoes. Randa got a pair of jeans and a really cute cordoroy mini skirt. But most importantly, we had a lot of fun.
I am finding that I can work at my old pace, for short periods. This allowed me to do all my chores before I left. I even managed to change the bed and wash and hang the sheets out on the line, before I left. I had not been using my clothes line, since a basket of wet laundry weight more than the eight pounds I was allowed. It is nice to be able to do that again, although, finding days that are dry enough is a challenge.
We are starting to dry out so we don't need hip waders to walk around. We have had some serious rain so far this year. Rather like Mother Nature woke up and finally remembered that Texas needs water too. So, I think we are getting a double share, since we got none last winter. I am not complaining, it is wonderful to look out and see green grass every where.
So, today is a back to work day. My real challenge will be getting water to the pasture I need to put my cows in. While I was not able to work, the water lines at the back of the property broke. Instead of repairing them, I capped them. I still don't have the strength needed to do the repair, so I have to run a lot of hoses. I am hoping I can handle them, one at a time. We shall see. They are 110 feet long, and good quality, so they are heavy.
But, hopefully I can get it all done today, as rain is again forecast for tomorrow. Right now, a ten percent chance of rain, is rain. Last year, an eighty percent chance only gave us six drops. Funny how the chance of rain depends on how much you are getting. I don't understand how they figure that one out.
